Locations
Check from where your users are
EU Central, EU North, US East, US West and Asia Pacific. Pick the regions each monitor is checked from and see every one of them separately. Nothing to install, and nothing runs on your servers.
Every failure is confirmed from a second location before anyone is paged. Results are stored in the EU.
MCP · every plan, Free included
Uptime Beacon runs an MCP server. Add it to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code or Codex, and your assistant can read your monitors, incidents and check history. Allow changes and it can act on them too.
https://app.uptimebeacon.eu/mcp $ claude mcp add --transport http uptime-beacon https://app.uptimebeacon.eu/mcpJust got paged, something's down in production. What's going on?
Uptime Beacon diagnose-monitor
events.example.com is down since 03:12. US East and US West both get 503 Service Unavailable on every check, so it's not a network blip. The last good check was at 03:10, answered in 212 ms.
Acknowledge it. I'm on it.
Uptime Beacon acknowledge-incident
Done. Reminders have stopped, and your team can see you took it.
Read
Monitors, incidents and per-region check history. Heartbeats, certificate and domain watches, and your plan usage. It can also diagnose a failing monitor region by region.
With Allow changes
Create, edit, pause and resume monitors. Acknowledge or close incidents, start a maintenance window, and add heartbeats and watches. Nothing can be deleted over MCP.
Guardrails
The same roles and plan limits as the dashboard. You get an email for every new connection, and Settings → Connected apps revokes one in a click.
What you get
Alerting, status pages, expiry watches and MCP on every plan. Multi-location confirmation and the JSON API on paid plans.
Locations
EU Central, EU North, US East, US West and Asia Pacific. Pick the regions each monitor is checked from and see every one of them separately. Nothing to install, and nothing runs on your servers.
Confirmation
A monitor has to fail several checks in a row, and a second location has to see the same thing, before an incident opens. A bad transit route in one region stops being a 3 a.m. phone call.
Residency
Probes run worldwide. The control plane, the database and every stored result stay in the EU. Which country a check ran from never changes where its data lives.
Status pages
Plain server-rendered HTML, cached, with no JavaScript bundle to load. Up to 90 days of history (30 on Free) and an uptime figure. Public, on your own domain if you like, or private behind a token and hidden from search engines.
Alerts
Route each monitor to the channels that should hear about it. Acknowledge, straight from Slack if you like, and the reminders stop. Leave it open and Uptime Beacon keeps nudging until the checks recover. Deploying? Start a maintenance window and nobody gets paged.
Certificates and domains
A certificate that expires on Sunday is an outage you can see coming. So is a domain that lapses. Both are checked daily and warned about weeks ahead, on a schedule you can change.
The check cycle
add monitor
URL, interval, the status code you expect, a phrase the response must contain if you like, and which locations should check it.
check
Probes in your chosen locations pull the work and report back to the EU. Each location keeps its own failure count, and a probe that dies mid-batch hands its checks to another, so no single machine leaves a gap.
report
DNS, connect, TLS handshake and total time are recorded separately, so a slow page tells you which part got slow.
alert
Enough failures in a row, seen from a second location, opens an incident. Alerts go out and the status page updates. Acknowledge to stop the reminders. The incident resolves itself once the checks recover.
Self-monitoring
The worst failure mode for this kind of product is looking healthy while delivering nothing. Two design decisions guard against it.
JSON API · Paid plans
Team-scoped tokens with separate read and write abilities, and a documented JSON API. Create monitors from your deploy pipeline, pull incident history into your own reporting, or wire it into whatever you already run. Outgoing webhooks are signed, so the other direction can be verified too.
Create a monitor
curl -X POST https://app.uptimebeacon.eu/api/v1/monitors \ -H "Authorization: Bearer $UPTIMEBEACON_TOKEN" \ -H "Content-Type: application/json" \ -d '{ "name": "Checkout", "url": "https://checkout.example.com/health", "interval_seconds": 120, "regions": ["eu-central-1", "us-east-1"] }' # → 201 Created # { "data": { "id": "9f1c…", "name": "Checkout", … } }
Who builds it
Between us, we've spent more than 30 years running production at banks, fintechs, telecoms and SaaS companies, and carrying the pager for it.
Uptime Beacon is the monitor we wanted on those nights. It checks a failure from a second location before it wakes anyone. When it does, it tells you what broke.
We run our own products on it. Same team as Cost Beacon, built in Estonia.

Questions
On the EU control plane: the database, dashboard, incident history and status pages. Probes outside the EU execute checks and report results back. They hold no database credentials and store nothing themselves. Data you send to an application you connect, such as an AI assistant over MCP, goes wherever that application runs.
No. Nothing runs on your servers. Give Uptime Beacon a URL, a host and port, or a host to ping, and our probes check it from the locations you pick. Anything that answers on the public internet can be monitored, as long as it is yours or you have permission to monitor it.
A check fails when the request errors or times out, returns a status code you did not ask for, is missing the text you told it to expect, or fails a JSON assertion. A TCP check fails when the port refuses the connection, and a ping check when no reply comes back. An incident opens after the number of failures in a row you set, three by default, and where a monitor has more than one location, only once a second location has seen the same thing. A heartbeat monitor is down when your job does not check in on time, or checks in to say it failed.
On Starter and above, start a maintenance window on the monitor, from 5 minutes to 7 days. Checks keep running and are recorded, but they do not count against uptime, no incident opens and nobody is paged. The status page shows the monitor as under maintenance.
Yes, on Pro and above. A private page opens only from its own link, which carries a secret token, and tells search engines not to index it. You can hand it to a customer without it turning up in search results. Private pages are not served on a custom domain.
Not with a check from our probes. They run on the public internet, so the endpoint has to be reachable from there, and private and internal addresses are refused. A job inside your network can still report in through a heartbeat monitor, on Starter and above, as long as it can make an outgoing HTTPS request. At Enterprise scale we will design a setup around your network, including dedicated probes on allowlistable IPs and locations we don't run yet. Talk to us.
Read your monitors, incidents, check history, heartbeats, certificate and domain watches and plan usage, and diagnose a failing monitor region by region. If you allow changes for a team, it can also create, edit, pause and resume monitors, acknowledge or close incidents, start a maintenance window and add heartbeats and watches. Nothing can be deleted over MCP. It works on every plan, Free included, with the same roles and plan limits as the dashboard. Add https://app.uptimebeacon.eu/mcp to your assistant and sign in. No API key is needed.
Yes. The free plan has no fee and no fixed term: five monitors checked every five minutes from EU Central, one alert channel (email or Slack), one public status page and five expiry watches each for certificates and domains. Upgrade when you want more locations or a faster interval.
